My Latest Research & Other Assorted Endevours and Adventures
Our research team has now finished two different tests on the blood specimens collected, including carefully retesting a number of specimens which did not have clear negative or positive markers for the rat lungworm disease organism. The notification letters should be going out from the lab this coming week. Some good news: funding was received for performing a new, Hawaii-specific, different type of test. If the research protocol is approved then we may be contacting participants with a permission slip authorizing us to use the remaining frozen blood specimen for this third test. Good progress, if slow, is being made with this very difficult technical challenge of developing a quick, inexpensive, non-invasive (relative to a spinal tap) blood test for rat lungworm disease. Thanks again for your participation!

Singing with the Puna Mens Chorus in musical comedy shows such as "ExtrABBAganza!" has been great fun and led to much service singing, such as the opening anthems at the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival, providing entertainment for residents at retirement homes & Goodwill, and at venues such as the Center for Spiritual Living of East Hawaii. I wrote several popular classroom songs now sung and hula danced all over the state of Hawaii by enthusiastic second grade students learning how to stay healthy by avoiding infection with rat lungworm disease; these instant classics include the chart-topping hits "If You're Healthy and You Know It, Wash Your Hands!" and "I've Been Jugging All the Sluh-ugs." Elton John & Berni Taupin, move over. Oh, and BTW, I did those stained glass windows in the background of this video.
